RUDE AWAKENING
a) Cause and Effect
b) The Deafening Silence
GLOBAL CONTROL HEADQUARTERS
MISSION CONTROL ROOM I, JULY 26th 2115
Edward Nolan:
"...and so the world will come to an end"
Those were the fateful words I still can't comprehend
They say the Earth will fade and die
There’s no escape for us
We're bound to face the end of all mankind
Clément Martins:
There's no hope, we're dying here
Our only hope is far out there
Edward Nolan:
Fly, Galileo, and find
A place for us all so that we may survive
Foolishly we've lost our way
Stay safe on your journey and fly
Fly far away...
And so the world has come to pass...
There is no one else to blame
No way to change the past?
We’ve seen it coming for a long time
But all we did was close our eyes
To a world we took for granted our whole life
Clément Martins:
We're past the point of no return
Our only light has ceased to burn
Edward Nolan:
Fly, Galileo, and find
A place for us all so that we'll be all right
Shamelessly we are led astray
Stay on your course as you fly...
Fly, Galileo, and find
A life for us all so that we don't have to die
Stay with me!
Stay with me!
Reach out and give me a sign
Give me a sign...

GLOBAL CONTROL HEADQUARTERS
BRIEFING ROOM, JULY 27th 2115
A GLOBALLY BROADCAST PRESS CONFERENCE ANNOUNCEMENT
Joseph Palmer:
On this day, the 27th of July 2115, it is my regretful duty to inform the world that the Galileo Alpha RM-1 mission has failed. A mission in which we trusted our lives, to find a new planet where we could maintain our existence, to carry forth the legacy of Man, and to forever live as one in peace.
d) Recollection: Soliloquy
NEW EARTH INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND PHYSICS
PRESIDENT RODERICK GRAHAM’S OFFICE, SEPTEMBER 9th 2098
Hoping to be granted access to the institute’s pharmaceutical laboratories, Edward has presented an article entitled “The Uncharted Realms of Existence”, in which he elaborates a new rather radical theory that he is eager to pursue, after having discovered a document that contains a very specific formula that he believes was created by Nostradamus during his alchemy studies. It is uncertain whether or not he ever exposed himself to or even produced such a substance, but it is Edward’s theory that it can help the human mind expand and reach its full potential.
Edward Nolan:
I know it can be done, but my theory is being questioned;
to reach beyond our time and reconcile
So many years ago there was a man they said could travel time in his mind...
e) Recollection: The Conflict
NEW EARTH INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND PHYSICS
PRESIDENT RODERICK GRAHAM’S OFFICE, SEPTEMBER 9th 2098
President Roderick Graham has read Edward’s article and has called him into his office for an urgent meeting. He feels his theories are downright dangerous, and he is concerned about the institute’s reputation if the article should ever be published. After years of friction between the two of them, Roderick has come to conclude that Edward must go, and justifies it by saying the institute needs to make “financial priorities”...
Roderick Graham:
I can't believe this thing you've brought before my eyes
Just empty theories that should never face the world outside!
Edward Nolan:
I never thought you'd be so wrong!
We have had this fight for far too long
We should be standing all as one...
NEW EARTH INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND PHYSICS
REVISITING HIS OFFICE DESK ONE LAST TIME, AUGUST 4th 2115
Roderick Graham:
...and now we're dying one by one!
Choir of Mortals:
Ever since our dying birth
We've been the seed that plagued the Earth
Now our days will come to end
Reality has never been our friend
f) An Act of Faith
NEW EARTH INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND PHYSICS
OUTSIDE THE MAIN ENTRANCE, AUGUST 4th 2115
Edward, Roderick and Clément have met outside the facilities that were closed and abandoned seven years ago. After learning about the Galileo Alpha RM-1 seemingly having failed one week ago, Roderick reached out to Edward to ask if he wanted to attempt to finish his work, now that everything seemingly will come to an end anyway. Edward accepted, and Roderick has handed him the master key itself, before wandering off, never to be seen again. Clément knows he might be seeing his friend for the very last time, and says his heartfelt goodbyes. Edward, on the other hand, has work to do, and no time for emotions...
Edward Nolan:
I can't just sit and watch as the world is going by
There are many things to be done
And idleness is a loaded gun
I need to carry out these theories in my mind
Before all is lost and we fade like an echo in time
Clément Martins:
If we never meet again
Just follow your heart, my friend!
Edward Nolan:
Save all your tears!
I know that we'll meet once again when my journey ends
Clément Martins:
Goodbye, my old friend
I hope that I'll see you again
Edward Nolan and Clément Martins:
Whatever may be in the end...

A RENDEZVOUS IN TIME?
NEW EARTH INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND PHYSICS
INSTITUTE ARCHIVES, AUGUST 17th 2115
Edward has spent almost two weeks revisiting the institute’s archives and catching up on everything he was forced to leave behind when he was dismissed almost seventeen years ago. Despite the fact that the world is coming to an end, he is in a state of total bliss knowing that he is back where he needed to be, to finish what he has always felt was the very reason to his existence. He is thinking back to when it all began, in a dream he had so many years ago, and the moment when the idea of a four dimensional existence spawned in his head. If his theories are right, he should be able to leave a message somewhere in the past and warn them about the grim future that awaits...or..?
Edward Nolan:
I had a dream so real and true
My mind was racing through millennia
As if existence had no bounds
A presence everywhere and for all time
Here in this room the temperature is rising
I will not give in, accept no defeat
I know what I saw in that vivid and lucid dream
There must be a way for the mind to expand and transcend
I have had these theories for a long time
To seek a four dimensional universe
To find a new way to exist
Beyond the parameters that we have known
A yearning mind, glory bound
Confronting limitations
This light I'll find
Exceeding expectations
(Lead: Cezar)
I need to find the open door to find an answer to this mystery
A temporal cosmos to explore
To see beyond the course of history
(Lead: Diego)
Here in this room the temperature is rising
I will not give in 'til a new world begins
I'll make them come true, these visions and lucid dreams
I must find a way to transcend!
I need a direction
The world has started to crumble
I need a connection...
In a rendezvous in time?

ELEGY OF LOST SOULS
NEW EARTH INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND PHYSICS
PHARMACEUTICAL LABORATORY, APRIL 24th 2116
Earth is soon completely uninhabitable, and because they were inoperative and remained unmaintained for several years, the laboratories’ own air filtering systems are starting to fail. Edward is losing focus, and he is drifting in and out of consciousness due to the lack of oxygen. For the first time in his life, knowing that he most likely will not wake up again if he falls to sleep, he starts to pray...
(Lead: Cezar)
Edward Nolan:
Heaven's angel, watch over me
Catch my soul if I fall to sleep
Light my way through the endless night
And help me find the answer within my mind
Choir of Mortals:
Heaven's angels, look down on us
Save our souls if all is lost
Grant your peace to each man on Earth
And let this be the hour of our rebirth

IF HEAVEN KNOWS MY NAME
NEW EARTH INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND PHYSICS
PHARMACEUTICAL LABORATORY, APRIL 25th 2116
The pressure is getting difficult to handle for Edward as he feels his time is running out, but the mixture is still not concentrated enough for a safe amount to be absorbed by his body. And still, he does not even know whether it should be ingested or injected. But how can he at all be sure...?
After having spent eight months in isolation, the lack of human interaction is taking a serious toll on Edward. Having always been a loner, his demons are never far away, making him wonder if it is really worth it to carry on. Exhausted and confused he finally falls to sleep, and in his dream he finds the disturbing answer...
Edward Nolan:
Hello, hello
Is that me in there?
You’ve been hiding from yourself for so many years
Hello, hello
Do you need someone who cares?
The darkness and its cold embrace will only bring you tears
I have lived here all alone in a world that is rushing by
And that's no place for one who always falls behind
I have felt the hopelessness of failing to suffice
Is there a way to see beyond these tears that cover up my eyes?
Hello, hello
Is there really someone there?
Been searching for myself for so many years
Here inside this darkest hole
There is nothing left to soothe my soul
Through the suffering and the pain
I'll leave this place where sanity is frail
It has been so many years since I have seen a face
And in this emptiness I found myself alone again
And here the memories linger on and on and on and on
But the pain...
I can't take no more!
I must wake up and try to carry on
If heaven knows my name
I know I can go on
To where my soul belongs
And if heaven calls my name
I know I'll be set free
From earthly misery

A VISIONARY’S FATE
a) The Lingering Voice
NEW EARTH INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND PHYSICS
PHARMACEUTICAL LABORATORY, APRIL 26th 2116
Edward wakes up after eighteen hours of sleep, and notices that the oxygen level in the laboratory has miraculously increased. For the first time in many months he sees the sun break through the clouds, and he takes it as a sign that he still has time to finish his formula experiments. However, his dream has left an eerie voice inside of him, one that reminds him that he has no worthy life to return to, so he might as well just take that one final final step...
Edward Nolan:
A brand new day is rising and the sun just hit my eye
I am waking from a dream, and I hear the voice still in my mind
"As long as you believe there is nothing that can ever hold you back"
The time has come
Time to be moving on
Here within the sanctuary that is my final lair
A shadow dancing in the sunlight clears my mind of all my fears
I feel the urge to give it all I have
Dare I go?
What am I waiting for?
I feel it running through my veins
My mind fades, but there is no pain
I am floating away to a place far beyond
SALON-DE-PROVENCE, FRANCE
NOSTRADAMUS’ SECRET CHAMBER, MARCH 18th 1552:
Nostradamus:
Only when in the presence of certain death can the mind truly see and reach beyond the realm in which it lives, and find eternity
Edward Nolan:
But when I am coming back to life
My eyes are open wide
Could it be that I was bound to fail?
ON A BENCH NEAR THEIR CHILDHOOD PLAYGROUND, EARLY MORNING. APRIL 26th 2116
Clément Martins:
Somehow I feel you here
Like a presence in the air
But if you find your way, will I even know or remember your name?
b) An Inevitable Desicion
Having reached a critical point both mentally and with his work, Edward realizes that there is nothing more he can do. Having lost all faith in his theories and himself, he has found peace with the fact that he can not reach that higher level of existence in life...so he has chosen death.
Edward Nolan:
If all is lost, I might as well begin another life
As I am closing my eyes again, I am leaving this world far behind
c) Rendezvous: Preparation
(Lead: Andreas)
SALON-DE-PROVENCE, FRANCE
NOSTRADAMUS’ SECRET CHAMBER, LATE EVENING, MARCH 18th 1554:
Nostradamus:
(ENGLISH TRANSLATION)
Climbing these stairs to my secret chamber, no walls to block Salon's magnificent view on this warm summer night
I feel an urge, like a calling from within, as I am being drawn to my table
Like so many times before, as the candle flickers, I will sit with absolute peace of mind
As I dive into my own reflection in the surface of the water, history will unfold, moments yet unlived will appear to me as clear as day
Under this starlit sky, a vision of history will resonate before my eyes
I have seen wars, famine, pestilence, birth and death...
All the things I have seen...
d) Fading into Forever
(Lead: Rafael/Andreas)
Edward Nolan:
I feel there is something changing deep inside of me...as if my body is being swept away
There is no sound, no darkness...not even a single beam of light
Is this the new dimension I have been searching for?
The temporal cosmos...eternity?
Did I open the door to a new, transcendental existence?
Is this the beyond?
Is it life or is it death?
Where do I go?
e) One Last Embrace
Clément can no longer stand the thought of Edward being left alone, and him and a group of friends are rushing to the institute to try to persuade him to come along, instead of being alone for the remainder of whatever time he has left. They search every room, until they find him lying lifeless on the laboratory floor. Next to him they discover a syringe, an old handwritten document containing only a short verse and a strange drawing of dots and lines.
But the only voice that could answer their questions will speak no more...
Clément Martins:
I hope that you've found all your answers, wherever you are
Edward Nolan:
I hear familiar voices around me
Clément Martins:
A life all alone in the darkness has come to an end...
Edward Nolan:
...but did I even make a difference for you?
Clément Martins:
We'll never forget, we'll always remember your name!
Edward Nolan:
Don't ever close your eyes
I will be there every single day
Clément Martins:
Don't walk away, don't walk away!
Edward Nolan:
I'm fading away...

BEYOND THE PERIPHERY
a) A Wordless Eulogy
Clément is holding his dear friend’s body in his arms as it expires. Edward has died, his spirit has crossed over, but somehow he can still hear every word they are saying, assuring him of his significance and a love he spent a lifetime thinking he never deserved...
Clément Martins:
I have always seen it coming, and now you are dying in my arms
Was this the reward for all your sorrows?
A quiet desperation?
A silent struggle to belong?
Always holding on...
All the years that I have known you
Your mind has been wandering in the dark
I hope that you find what you've been searching for
A meaning of life, or nothing at all?
I wonder, where did you go?
Edward Nolan:
The life I have left behind was never meant for me
Just hiding in the shadows never set me free
Now that I'm crossing over to the other side
I have found a new frontier that suits the nature of my mind
Choir of Mortals:
Go on, be free
We hope you'll find your way
Go on, fly free
As we surrender your body to Earth
Clément Martins:
I see in all their faces; they are the people you know
The tears in their eyes tell me you gave them hope
Lost in their darkness they left all their homes
How I wish you could see you were never alone!
Edward Nolan:
I feel an energy that draws me towards a light
Unlike the dreams I have had there is no turning back
Here in the vastness is the presence I have sought
Across the centuries to bring this message I have brought
Choir of Mortals:
Go on, be free
We hope you find your way
Go on, fly free
As we surrender our lives to our fate
b) Rendezvous: The Vision
Finally at peace, Edward finds himself being surrounded by a brilliant white light. No longer bound by the limitations of physical existence, his spirit is forever and one with everything that has been, is, and ever will be. And in the light, the presence of whom he believes is the one whose word is powerful enough to alter the course of history...
Edward Nolan:
Nostradamus
I am reaching out to change the course of time
To save our souls before the world is gone
Forever gone!
SALON-DE-PROVENCE, FRANCE
NOSTRADAMUS’ SECRET CHAMBER, MIDNIGHT, MARCH 18th 1554:
Nostradamus:
A vision of tragedy
Appearing in my mindful trance
A world on its knees
Deprived of their sun
Their course must be turned
Their fate be undone...
c) Timeline: A Different Course
In his rooftop chamber, surrounded by the light of seven wax candles, Nostradamus wrote a quatrain based on the vision that had just come to him. This would be one of the last quatrains he ever wrote before “Les Prophéties” was published the year after. Mankind took it as a serious warning about the world coming to an end, and succeeded in their efforts to permanently avoid such a tragedy.
However, tempted by their curiosity and due to their adventurous nature, mankind still decided to search their surroundings for other planets to colonize. A constellation consisting of seven planets and one moon was discovered in 2103, and the GALILEO ALPHA EN-1 probe was launched in 2113 to investigate and determine their habitability.
By 2123 Global Control received the data transmission they were waiting for, and only a couple years later the first groups of colonists boarded the seven “Valiant” shuttles, each of them ready to embark on their voyage to their respective destinations in the “Novae” constellation.

Clément Martins:
In a world where life would falter
They found a way to make it last
They followed a warning that was written in the past
So long ago, predictions of time in candlelight
They searched for other planets
And soon they found a place to go
Beyond the horizon the Valiants will go
We're leaving the Earth to a place far from home...
Edward Nolan:
You're never alone!
Clément Martins:
...but in my heart I won't let you go!
Edward Nolan:
I found a gateway to a place beyond the stars
Away from emptiness and where my demons are
I see the universe and all that ever was
I am eternity and I am directing history's course
Nostradamus:
Dying by the hands of none but their own mortal selves
The world they know will shatter and crumble
Seven brave ones will travel among the stars
As Earth is slowly withering away
